Adalis was excited to finally introduce Ledisi and Ava officially. He knew how important it was for two of the three most important women in his life to get along. So, he planned a special day for the three of them to spend quality time together. First on the agenda was a shopping spree. Adalis knew how much Ledisi loved fashion, and he wanted Ava to experience the thrill of shopping with her. She had a mother, and he respected that, but if he was building something real with Ledisi, he wanted to be sure she was truly comfortable with him having a child.

As they strolled through downtown in and out of the shops, Ledisi and Ava chatted and laughed like they always knew each other. Ava was drawn to Ledisi's warm and welcoming personality, and Ledisi was captivated by Ava's intelligence and wit. They bonded quickly over their love for Adalis and their shared interest in all things girly. Ledisi found herself worried all morning for nothing. Neither of them had to fight for his attention, respecting that they meant two different things to him. Ledisi was happy to have a young lady to influence, and Ava was excited that her dad had a special friend that was funny, stylish, and cool.

As they walked into the boutique, Ledisi's eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, Ava, we're going to have so much fun picking out cute outfits together! Are you ready to be my little shopping buddy?"

Ava nodded eagerly, her curls bouncing with excitement. "Yes! I want to get an outfit just like yours, and we can TikTok!"

"Deal! Let's find the perfect outfit. We'll be twinning!"

As they tried on clothes and shared laughs in the fitting room, Adalis smiled at the sight of them bonding. He knew he had made the right decision to bring them together. He missed Ava when she was gone, and he really wanted to have her full time, but he knew that wasn’t plausible with the life he led. Now he understood more than ever why Ledisi was hellbent on him letting that life go. It was restrictive even though it had its perks.

“Daddy, I’m hungry from all this shopping,” Ava whined with her big eyes playing on his heartstrings. When she looked at him, his resolve crumbled to his feet. It was the same way with Ledisi.

“Say less, let’s go eat.”

They arrived at a small restaurant on the strip, and the spices from the Greek food could be smelled from a mile away. Both of the girls’s stomachs growled as they took a seat and looked over the menu. Ava was attached to Ledisi, ensuring she got to sit right up under her.

Ledisi was impressed by how well-mannered and mature Ava was for her age. She loved the relationship that he had with his daughter. It made her think of the one she had with her own before things went south. Ava was a spitting image of her father, and she was bossy, confident, and spoiled.
